After weeks of speculations, former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has declared his interest in contesting the presidency in the 2023 election.

He made the declaration during a meeting with traditional rulers in Anambra on Thursday.

He said, “The Nigeria I’ll lead will create jobs, boost our economy, improve education. If I’ve the opportunity, I’ll turn around the country for better “I’ll move Nigeria from a consuming nation to a productive nation.”

His declaration is coming less than 24 hours after former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar declared his intention to run for President in 2023.

Obi was Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 presential election. Atiku lost to current President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
