Suspected terrorists have detonated bombs on the rail track of an Abuja-Kaduna train.

Nigeria News House gathered that the attack occurred between Katari and Rijana on Monday evening.

One of the passengers who confirmed the incident in a telephone call said the attackers surrounded the train, shot some passengers and kidnapped others.

“All the passengers are currently lying on the floor of the train. The bandits are shooting sporadically. We are in serious danger,” said one of the panic-stricken passengers.

Meanwhile, troops have been mobilised to the scene of the attack to rescue the remaining passengers.

There are at least 970 passengers on board the train, according to official sources familiar with the train service.

The latest attack is coming a few days after about 50 persons were killed and several others kidnapped in Giwa Local Government Area of the state.

Also, some unidentified gunmen on Saturday attacked the Kaduna Airport, killing an official of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), identified as Shehu Na’Allah, at the runway.

The manager of the airport, Amina Salami,  said the bandits invaded the airport through the perimeter fence from a nearby forest at about 1 p.m.

She stated that the deceased security guard, Mr Na’Allah, was patrolling the runway when he was shot by the assailants.

Mrs Salami said soldiers at the airport, however, responded immediately and repelled the attack.
