The Rivers State House of Assembly has announced plans to re-screen and re-confirm nine former commissioners who resigned from the state executive council on Wednesday. The decision is outlined in a statement signed by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Emeka Amadi, in Port Harcourt.

The commissioners slated for re-screening include Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN), Dr. Des George-Kelly, Emeka Woke, Mrs. Inime Aguma, Isaac Kamalu, Prof. Chinedu Mmom, Dr. Gift Worlu, Dr. Jacobson Nbina, and Austin Ben-Chioma.

The commissioners are required to submit 40 sets of their Curriculum Vitae (CV), photocopies, and original copies of their credentials to the Rivers State House of Assembly and Legislative Quarters, where the screening will take place.

The resignations occurred on December 16, 2023, amid a political crisis between the state governor and his predecessor, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory. The reinstatement of the former commissioners is part of the peace agreement demands outlined in President Tinubu’s negotiation with Governor Fubara.
