The People Democratic Party’s caucus at the House of Representatives has warned that the lingering crisis at the Rivers State House of Assembly leading to a call for the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is an invitation to anarchy.

The opposition lawmakers, operating under the umbrella of G60, led by Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, have described the move as ‘laughable, ridiculous and nonsensical.’

The caucus, in a statement issued on Thursday, disclosed that the 27 lawmakers who defected from the PDP, a platform under which they were elected to the All Progressives Congress, had been sacked and their seats declared vacant in accordance with the law.

The opposition lawmakers at the Green Chamber expressed dismay, saying the Rivers Assembly members were determined to worsen the crisis by pursuing a selfish agenda rather than committing to the advancement of the state.

They advised Governor Fubara to prosecute the sacked lawmakers through the Magistrate Court by arraigning them for impersonation to restore sanity.
