President Bola Tinubu has expressed concern over the overbearing influence of state governors on the administration of local government councils in the country.

The president expressed this view when the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said issues of accountability and ineffectiveness obstruct the growth of local council authorities, therefore, state governors must be held accountable.

This comes barely a few days after the Federal Government sued the 36 state governors over Local Government autonomy.

President Tinubu explained that during elections, local governments become key to raking in votes but immediately after the polls, the governors concentrate at the centre.
