The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation are renewing their strategic alliance towards tackling the menace of cyber crimes and other waves of emerging internet crimes of mutual interest to both countries.
This follows a meeting in Abuja between an FBI team
led by its director, Christopher Wray, and officials of the EFCC led by the executive chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
In his remarks at the meeting, Wray, who expressed delight at the bond which has been in existence for several years between both agencies, called for its upscaling in the face of common crime threats that confront Nigeria and the US.
For his part, Olukoyede thanked the FBI for being the EFCC’s personnel and institutional capacity building benefactor over the years and expressed optimism that the collaboration between both agencies would be taken a step further.
The EFCC boss also canvassed for the enhancement of the collaboration and strategic partnership, noting that doing so was in the mutual interest of both countries, especially as criminality has become borderless.
