The state government, said the decision is to deal with any outbreak of cholera in the state following reports of cholera outbreak in Lagos State.

The Commissioner for Health, Jola Akintola, said the reactivation would ensure adequate surveillance activities to guarantee the health of the citizens.

Akintola said the state is yet to record a confirmed case of cholera, but citizens returning for the Eid el-Kabir festival have been advised to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the disease.

The public has also been encouraged to work together to ensure a safe and healthy festive period, and to report any symptoms of cholera to the nearest health facility.
