The leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned the recent killing of soldiers in Aba, Abia State, by yet to be identified persons during the 30th May Sit-at-Home Remembrance of fallen heroes during the Nigeria Biafra Civil War.

Kanu, who appeared before a Federal High Court on Wednesday in Abuja in a treasonable felony trial, said the IPOB was founded on the principle of non-violence.

Speaking after the court proceeding, Kanu who was flanked by his lawyers, including Aloy Ejimakor, described the recent killing of soldiers in Aba who were fellow Igbos as unfortunate, as their families are now in mourning.

He insisted that he does not want anyone to die, stressing that all he wants is total freedom of the people.

Kanu highlighted the numerous sufferings of Africans to include slavery in Arabia, Europe and America, stressing that the focus should rather be on ensuring that Africa stands up to what God has promised the continent.
