The Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Planning, Sunday Inyima, told newsmen that two construction workers trapped under the rubble had been rescued, while four others successfully escaped when the building collapsed.
The commissioner assured the public that the incident would be thoroughly investigated to serve as deterrent to others.
He noted that the three-storey building owned by a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Oluchukwu Ezeali, was not approved by the Ministry as the lawmaker was advised not to erect a high rise building in the area.
Meanwhile, the Police command spokesman, Joshua Ukandu, also confirmed that the two trapped victims were responding to treatment at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital
