Rauf Aregbesola, Nigeria’s Minister of Interior has tasked government ministries, departments and agencies to ensure that job vacancies are properly advertised to bring on board the best set of hands.

He made this known while delivering a keynote address in a national policy dialogue on Entrenching Transparency in Public Service Recruitment in Nigeria organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja on Monday.

The minister in his address said proper publicity for job recruitments is essential if the best hands are to be employed as they are qualified Nigerians in every state of the federation.

He stated that the recruitment process becomes compromised when shrouded in secrecy.

The Policy Dialogue according to the commission had become necessary due to the challenges associated with recruitment and the endemic systemic corruption that dogs the process.

The dialogue organized by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN), the research and training arm of the ICPC had in attendance representative of Senate President, Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf; Mrs Folashade Yemi Esan, Head of Service of the Federation; Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, Chairman of the ICPC; Musiliu Smith, Chairman of Police Service Commission (PSC) among others.
