The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, have agreed to work together to curb the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in communities across the country.
This is one of the agreements reached at a meeting between the National President of ALGON, Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata and other leaders of the umbrella body for all local government chairmen in the country and the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, (Rtd) Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Addressing the ALGON leaders, Mohammed Marwa expressed the preparedness of NDLEA to work with the council chairmen to ensure that people at the grassroots are well sensitized about the dangers of abusing illicit drugs and also provide help for those already indulging in the unhealthy habit.
