The Federal Government has terminated its contracts with three construction giants; Mothercat, Dantata & Sawoe, and RCC, over their failure to complete the dualisation of the Obajana-Benin road project sections two, three, and four.

According to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, the contracts were terminated due to the companies’ inordinate delay and failure to fulfil their contractual obligations.

The projects, awarded in 2012, were abandoned by the contractors, exposing road users to hardship due to the deplorable condition of the projects.

The Federal Ministry of Works has directed engineers to take necessary steps and arrange for a joint measurement of the work done so far.

The government has vowed to terminate all non-performing projects, ensuring that contractors meet their obligations.

This move is seen as a bold step by the Federal Government to ensure accountability and quality in its projects.

The terminated contracts are valued at billions of naira, and government’s action is expected to send a strong message to contractors who fail to deliver on their promises.
