The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered a sinister plot by a shadowy group to orchestrate a nationwide protest aimed at disrupting the commission’s operations and threatening the peace and security of Nigeria.
According to a press statement released by the EFCC, the group has been recruiting young Nigerians, including students, to take up “arms” against the commission, exploiting social media to spread their message and gain support.
The EFCC has expressed concerns that the planned protest is not a genuine expression of grievance but a ploy by corrupt elements under investigation or prosecution to incite a national uprising and distract the commission from its mission to combat cybercrime and corruption.
The commission has vowed to take necessary measures to prevent any breakdown of law and order and is working closely with sister security agencies to ensure the safety and security of Nigerians.
The EFCC has appealed to parents, guardians, and heads of tertiary institutions to take responsibility for ensuring that their wards are not recruited into this proxy war against the commission.
This development comes as the EFCC continues to intensify its war against corruption and cybercrime, with a focus on protecting the future of Nigerian youth and restoring the country’s reputation globally.
