The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to higher institutions to submit their student data to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to process loan applications.

NANS, through its National President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, expressed frustration over institutions’ delays in uploading the required data, thus preventing students from applying for the loan.

“This lack of urgency from certain state institutions is unacceptable,” Emonefe said. “With the July 12 deadline from NELFUND approaching, it’s crucial that all student data is submitted promptly. These interest-free loans are essential for many students, and it’s disheartening to see institutions not taking this opportunity seriously.”

NANS warned that if the institutions fail to comply within the next 48 hours, they will take further action. “Education is a right, and every student should have access to financial support. We will not allow administrative negligence to hinder students’ access to education,” Emonefe stated.
