Hey, fam! So, the Euros just went down, and Spain took the crown. But let’s get real โ€“ African football is where the heart is! We’ve got the talent, the passion, and the drive, but we’re still lagging behind European teams in terms of recognition and resources. It’s time to level up!

Here’s the tea: FIFA only allocates 2% of its funding to African football development, compared to a whopping 60% for European teams. No wonder we’re struggling to keep up! But, we’ve got some amazing African players killing the game in foreign leagues โ€“ Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Terem Moffi, to name a few. And, our own Nigerian league is bursting with talent!

So, what’s the solution? We need to invest in our infrastructure, marketing, and grassroots programs. We need to collab with international partners and leverage our talent to get more recognition. We need to create a strong football culture that inspires the next gen of players.

As former Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr said, “Africa has the talent, but we need to invest in our infrastructure and youth development to compete with the world’s best.” And, CAF President Patrice Motsepe emphasized, “We must work together to develop African football, improve our competitions, and enhance our global reputation.”

It’s time for African football to rise to the top! Let’s make it happen, fam!
