A group known as G-23 has called on Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere, House of Representatives member for Ideato North/South, to stop meddling in the political crisis in Rivers State. At a press conference in Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha, the group’s leader, accused Ugochinyere of exploiting the crisis for financial gain and urged him to focus on issues in his native Imo State, such as gully erosion and terrorism.
Okocha criticized Ugochinyere’s involvement in Rivers politics, alleging that his actions worsen the situation. He pointed out that Ugochinyere has failed to address critical issues in his constituency, such as flooding and insurgency by IPOB, and has not sponsored any relevant bills in the House.
Okocha, also the Rivers State APC caretaker chairman, dismissed Ugochinyere’s political ambitions and condemned recent comments by Zenith Labor Party’s national chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, about Rivers politics. He argued that Nwanyanwu, whom he described as a political failure, has no standing in Rivers State and should not meddle in its affairs.
