The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, has explained that the Organized Labour accepted President Tinubu’s proposal of N70,000 new national minimum wage because of other incentives attached.

Ajaero, who disclosed this to State House reporters after the meeting with the President, said President Tinubu also promised to review the minimum wage every three years as against what obtained in the past.

Earlier, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had announced that the president approved 70,000naira as national minimum wage, during a meeting with the leadership of the Organized Labour in Abuja.

The meeting came a week after the first one held last week, and when the new minimum wage is approved by the National Assembly, it will replace the 30,000naira minimum wage which expired on April 18.

Onanuga, who posted on his official X handle, said President Tinubu also promised to find ways to assist the private sector and the sub-nationals to pay the minimum wage.
