The Federal Government is reaffirming its dedication to completing the East-West Road project, crucial for unlocking economic potential in the South-South region. Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, announced this during an inspection of the Kaiama-Ahoada section in Rivers/Bayelsa States.

Umahi emphasized that the Tinubu administration is focused on providing infrastructure that supports economic growth and self-actualization. The project will use reinforced concrete to address past failures and improve resilience against floods, incorporating local contractors for enhanced effectiveness.

During his visit, Umahi praised the current contractors for their dedication and urged them to continue their efforts despite delays in payments. He also highlighted new measures, including flood management and road redesigns, to ensure the road meets long-term needs.

Umahi expects the project to be completed by December, stressing the government’s commitment to resolving infrastructure issues and improving road conditions nationwide.
