The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions (NASU) have extended their warning strike by two weeks.
This was contained in a circular addressed to branch chairmen of NASU and SSANU in universities and inter-university centres on Friday.
The circular signed by SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim, and NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi said the extension became necessary due to the failure of the government to act positively on the ongoing warning strike.
According to the circular, all branches of NASU and SSANU are to hold congresses on Monday, April 11, 2022 and take resolutions on the ongoing strike. It said the outcome of the resolutions should be forwarded to their respective union headquarters immediately for collation.
Recall that the unions had proceeded on a two-week warning strike on March 27 over the inability of the Federal Government to meet their demands.
