Former Governor of Oyo State and current Otun Olubadan, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has shifted his stance on the beaded crown controversy. In a live radio interview, Ladoja announced his readiness to accept the beaded crown, previously a point of contention, for the sake of peace in Ibadanland. He emphasized that his decision aligns with the wishes of the majority of Ibadan’s people, who desire him to accept the crown as a prerequisite for ascending the throne of Olubadan.

Ladoja stated, “By the grace of God, I will become Olubadan,” expressing confidence in his destiny despite past obstacles. He clarified that his acceptance of the beaded crown is purely ceremonial, reaffirming that the Olubadan remains the only true king in Ibadanland. Ladoja’s decision is seen as a move to uphold the democratic process and the majority’s will, as he aims to fulfill the people’s wishes for the peace and stability of the region.
