The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has extended its congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo following his victory in the Edo State governorship election held on September 21.

In a statement issued by IPAC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Chinyere Kalu, the council hailed Okpebholo’s win as a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s democratic evolution, encouraging him to lead with humility and inclusivity. IPAC urged the governor-elect to extend a hand of cooperation to his rivals and ensure his administration is open to all, emphasizing the need for unity to drive Edo State forward.

The council credited the peaceful election to the collaborative efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters, lauding their roles in ensuring a smooth process. It called on aggrieved political parties and candidates to pursue legitimate avenues for challenging results, while rejecting violence or disruptive actions.

IPAC further urged INEC to build on the successful conduct of the Edo election and apply the same standards to the upcoming Ondo State gubernatorial poll in November. As the umbrella organization representing all registered political parties, IPAC reaffirmed its dedication to fostering democracy, political stability, and the well-being of Nigerians.

“Democracy has firmly taken root in Nigeria,” the council stated, “and together we will strengthen it to deliver its benefits to citizens. The outcome of the Edo election reflects the will of the people, and Senator Okpebholo’s win represents a mandate to serve.”

The council reminded the new governor that his victory carries significant responsibility, calling for inclusive governance that transcends party lines to improve the lives of Edo residents. IPAC also stressed the importance of credible elections in the nation’s political system, insisting that the will of the people must always be upheld.
