Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially inaugurated the newly elected chairmen of the state’s 23 local government areas. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Sunday at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt, following the conclusion of the Local Government Council elections held on Saturday.
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) declared 22 chairmen from the Action Peoples Party (APP) and one from the Action Alliance as winners in their respective local government areas.
Governor Fubara, while addressing the newly sworn-in officials, congratulated them on their electoral victories and urged them to fulfill their campaign promises, focusing on improving the welfare of their local communities.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who lent his support. The chairmen, each accompanied by a guest as required by state protocol, are expected to assume office immediately and begin their duties.
