Former President Barack Obama is lending his influence to Kamala Harris’s election campaign, making a significant stop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to energize voters ahead of the 2024 election. On Thursday, Obama will rally support in the crucial battleground state, just a day after Harris’s opponent, Donald Trump, campaigned in Scranton.
Obama’s role is to encourage early voting, either in person or by mail, as the race between Harris and Trump remains tight. Harris’s team is hoping the former president, still a prominent figure in Democratic politics, will galvanize Black and young voters.
Trump, who visited Pennsylvania on Wednesday and is headed to Michigan next, criticized Harris on economic issues, rallying support from blue-collar voters in Scranton. Meanwhile, Harris will travel to Nevada, focusing on Latino voters, while keeping an eye on Hurricane Milton, which has battered Florida.
Obama’s appearance in Pennsylvania marks the first of several campaign stops planned in key swing states as the November 5 election approaches.
