A political group, the Concerned People’s Democratic Party League (CPDPL), has accused Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere, PDP National Legal Adviser Hon. Kamaladin Ajibade, and suspended Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara of conspiring to destabilize the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, CPDPL leader Daboikiabo Warmate criticized what he described as a “deliberate attempt to mislead PDP faithful and the Nigerian public” by Ugochinyere and his allies.
Warmate stated that the party’s leadership crisis worsened after Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP National Secretary, declared his intention to contest the Imo State governorship election. Despite winning the primary and taking a leave of absence for his campaign, Anyanwu refused to resign, citing Section 47(5) of the party’s constitution, which supports his decision.
He further explained that Anyanwu’s supporters secured a January 2024 court order preventing his removal, which remains in effect without being stayed or appealed. However, an Enugu High Court later ruled in favor of Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye as the new PDP National Secretary, a decision Warmate dismissed as “based on forged guidelines and a mutilated interpretation of the PDP constitution.”
Despite the Court of Appeal upholding the Enugu High Court ruling, Warmate noted that Anyanwu obtained a stay of execution from the Court of Appeal in January 2025, preserving his position as National Secretary pending further legal proceedings.
Warmate accused Ugochinyere, Ajibade, and Wabara of orchestrating division within the party, using “lies and propaganda” to undermine Anyanwu’s legitimacy. He urged PDP members to stand firmly behind Anyanwu as the authentic National Secretary, insisting that his position is legally and constitutionally valid.
“No one can destroy or destabilize the PDP. We insist that Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the authentic PDP National Secretary in accordance with party rules and the law,” Warmate concluded.
