The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day, a federal holiday in the United States. The diplomatic missions will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Presidents’ Day, observed annually on the third Monday of February, is dedicated to honoring past and present U.S. presidents. Originally established in recognition of George Washington’s birthday, the holiday has since evolved to celebrate the contributions of all American presidents.

As a result of the closure, individuals seeking consular services—including visa applications, passport renewals, and other embassy-related transactions—are advised to plan accordingly. Emergency services for U.S. citizens in Nigeria will still be available through designated contact channels.

For further inquiries, individuals are encouraged to visit the official U.S. Embassy website or follow their social media platforms for updates.
