The African Development Bank (AfDB) has unveiled the five candidates vying to succeed current president Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, whose tenure since 2015 has been marked by significant reforms.
Following a two-day meeting at its headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, the bank’s Steering Committee cleared the candidacies of Mr. Hott Amadou (Senegal), Dr. Maimbo Munzele (Zambia), Mr. Tah Ould (Mauritania), Mr. Tolli Mahamat (Chad), and Ms. Tshabalala Swazi (South Africa).
The election, scheduled for May 29, is expected to shape the bank’s direction on infrastructure, economic growth, and climate resilience in Africa.
