Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is resisting pressure to sign a deal granting the U.S. preferential access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals, a Ukrainian source told AFP.

The proposed agreement, championed by U.S. President Donald Trump as compensation for past aid under Joe Biden, lacks clear American commitments on investments and security guarantees, the source said.

With Ukraine seeking concrete assurances, negotiations continue amid rising tensions, including Trump recently labeling Zelensky a “dictator” in a social media post.
