Governor Abdullahi Sule has firmly dismissed claims by certain politicians that they have been anointed as his preferred successors for the 2027 governorship race. During his bi-monthly press briefing at the Press Center in Lafia on Wednesday, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, condemned the assertions as deceptive distractions designed to exploit the governor’s name for political gain.

“We want to make it categorically clear that Governor Abdullahi Sule has not anointed any candidate to succeed him in 2027. Any appointee supporting such a claim is displaying insubordination, and the governor will not tolerate such acts henceforth,” Ahemba declared. He warned the public to disregard any politician who claims to be the government’s chosen candidate for the 2027 governorship race.

The statement came amid growing speculation fueled by disgruntled politicians seeking to leverage Governor Sule’s popularity ahead of the next election cycle. “At the appropriate time, the people of Nasarawa will decide who they want as governor in 2027. Governor Sule still has more than two years to deliver the dividends of democracy to his people—why the distraction?” Ahemba questioned.

Reassuring his supporters and citizens, Governor Sule remains focused on governance and the delivery of key developmental projects during the remainder of his administration. He urged the public to remain law-abiding and vigilant against misleading political narratives that could undermine the democratic process.

The governor’s comments underscore his commitment to ensuring that the people of Nasarawa make their own choice at the ballot box in 2027, free from undue political interference or premature endorsements.
