The Lagos State Government has announced plans to collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to end the sale and use of hard drugs in government-owned housing estates.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Abdulhafis Toriola, disclosed this in a statement issued by the ministry’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Ganiu Lawal, on Thursday.

Toriola gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the NDLEA, led by the Lagos State Commander, Abubakar Liman Wali, during a courtesy visit to his office in Ikeja.

He commended the NDLEA for its sustained efforts in tackling drug abuse, trafficking, and related crimes across the country, as well as its role in raising awareness and rehabilitating victims of drug addiction.

Toriola said the ministry would fully support the agency’s initiatives aimed at curbing drug peddling and rehabilitating users, noting that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains committed to promoting healthy and safe communities.

“The Lagos State Government is determined to end illicit drug-related activities among youths as part of its broader vision for sustainable development and a secure living environment,” he said.

In his remarks, Wali appreciated the ministry’s readiness to collaborate, pledging that the NDLEA would continue to uphold discipline, patriotism, and service in its campaign against drug abuse.
