Trump yet to approve plan amid ongoing military campaign

The White House on Monday confirmed that a proposal for a 45-day ceasefire with Iran is under consideration, but said President Donald Trump has not approved the plan and will continue military operations for now.

US media reports indicate that mediators have put forward the proposal as part of efforts to pause the escalating conflict in the Middle East, with Washington among the parties to have received the offer.

A White House official, speaking to AFP, described the proposal as one of several options currently being reviewed by the administration.

“This is one of many ideas, and POTUS has not signed off on it. Operation Epic Fury continues,” the official said, referring to the ongoing US military campaign.

The comments suggest that, while diplomatic channels remain active, there is no immediate shift in Washington’s approach to the conflict. Instead, the administration appears to be balancing continued military pressure with the possibility of a negotiated pause.

The president is expected to provide further details later in the day during a scheduled press conference at 1:00 pm (1700 GMT), where the evolving situation is likely to be a central focus.
