Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms to run in the 2023 presidential election.

On Friday, Emefiele paid N100 million for nomination and expression of interest forms at the International Conference Center in Abuja, where the forms were sold.

Emefiele’s decision to run for president in 2023 comes after months of speculation about the political ambitions of the Agbor, Delta State-born former Managing Director of Zenith Bank.

This comes just weeks after the CBN governor warned interest groups not to drag him into partisan politics, stating that he was more concerned with fixing Nigeria’s monetary policies and aligning them with the federal government’s fiscal policies.
