The Conference of United Political Parties (CUPP) has endorsed the House of Representatives Minority Caucus’ call on President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate more effective leadership or consider resigning from office.
The position was conveyed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Acting National Chairman of CUPP, Peter Ameh.
According to the opposition coalition, it shares the concerns raised by the Minority Caucus and believes the administration must urgently address the country’s mounting challenges.
“In a sane clime, any elected official who refuses to produce results of good governance that will make the lives of the people better should honourably resign,” Ameh said.
CUPP called on the federal government to take immediate action to tackle insecurity, economic hardship and other issues affecting the welfare of Nigerians.
“Leadership is not a right but a responsibility. Where this responsibility is not being discharged effectively, the honourable path is resignation,” he added.
The coalition reiterated its commitment to promoting accountability, good governance and the welfare of citizens, urging the administration to take visible steps to ease the difficulties faced by Nigerians.
Ameh said CUPP would continue to monitor developments across the country and speak out on issues it considers to be in the public interest.
The statement comes amid growing political debate over the government’s handling of economic and security challenges, with opposition groups calling for stronger policy responses to address citizens’ concerns.
