Despite the Turaki’s schedule suggesting he was to meet with the governor after leaving Abeokuta, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday avoided former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential hopeful for the 2023 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku is visiting Southwest states to meet with party delegates ahead of the presidential primary, which will take place later this month.

According to his agenda, Atiku met with delegates in Lagos State on Friday after meeting with Chief Olabode George at his Ikoyi office.

The former vice president continued his visit yesterday in Abeokuta, where he met with Ogun State delegates. However, because the PDP does not have a governor in Ogun or Lagos, Atiku did not intend to meet with the state governors, but he was unable to meet with Makinde despite the fact that certain journalists had been told to be on standby for the meeting.

“You know where I belong,” Makinde told Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, who was also in Ibadan to seek the support of Oyo State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his presidential bid. According to one comment, Makinde is backing Governor Nyesom Wike’s presidential bid.
