Husseini Musa Gwabba, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State in northeastern Nigeria, was assassinated.
Gwabba’s murder was confirmed by the police, who ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Gwabba was reportedly discovered dead in a hotel room in Bauchi, the state capital, on Saturday morning.
Gwabba was said to have received several death threats before his death from high-ranking members of the party who saw his rise as a threat to their own survival, according to the police.
“A thorough autopsy will be conducted on the body of the deceased to determine the cause of his death,” said SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the state police spokesperson, who confirmed the death.
“Please make the results of the autopsy, which have been awaited, public.
“Police have arrested three suspects in connection with Gwabba’s death and are questioning them,” he said.
