Mr Abiodun Sylvester Alabi, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, and his principal officers have begun a night patrol of Lagos suburbs in an effort not only to redefine the state’s security structure, but also to ward off criminals who may wish to hijack the Eid El Kabir celebrations on Monday and Tuesday next week for their heinous acts.
In that order, Alabi charges the deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations, Mr Isah Grema, with the responsibility of patrolling suspected hideouts and trouble spots at night with his special team.
“The CP is equally involved too. He has done that a couple of times. This leadership by example” said a source.
According to the source, these measures must not only be implemented, but they must also be taken seriously by the operatives.
The officer in charge, DCP Adegoke Fayoade, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, on Musuliu Smith (old Panti) street, to check the activities of robbers operating on most highways in the state.
Fayoade was said to have issued the order last weekend in response to a series of complaints made to his office by Lagos residents. He directed his officers to act quickly to put an end to the menace of traffic robbers.
