Boko Haram leader Al-Barnawi, who bombed the United Nations building in Abuja Mohammed Wadume, a kidnap kingpin in 2012, was among the feared terrorists who escaped from the Kuje Custodian Centre on Tuesday night.

These terrorists were released into society by their accomplice, who arrived on motorcycles in Kuje on Tuesday night.

The terrorists, who had been operating freely for hours without being challenged, took advantage of the opportunity to ‘preach’ to some of the inmates.

According to insiders, the CCTV at the Kuje Custodian Centre was not working at the time of the attack, fueling speculation that it was an insider’s job or that top officials at the center were compromised.

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, lamented yesterday during a visit to the scene.

According to Lawan, it is unthinkable that a secure facility such as the Correctional Centre would not have CCTV.
