The Abia police command has confirmed that gunmen attacked a bullion van and killed a bank official on the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway’s Umuahia axis.
The incident was confirmed by Geoffrey Ogbonna, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement issued in Umuahia on Wednesday.

According to Mr. Ogbonna, the incident occurred around 1:13 p.m. at Ntigha junction, near Umuahia.
According to him, the bullion van carrying cash from a modern bank in Aba to Umuahia collided with the alleged robbers’ roadblock.
According to the police spokesman, the van was being escorted by six mobile police officers assigned to 28 PMF Umuahia and Counter-Terrorist Unit Base 4, Aba at the time of the incident.

An investigation into the incident has already begun, according to a police spokesperson.
