Last weekend, millions of Nigerians headed to the polls to cast their votes for the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari. After days of anticipation, reports show that the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, secured a total of 8,794,726 votes, according to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu. The announcement was made at the International Collation Centre in Abuja earlier today.

It’s worth noting that the two other leading candidates, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, each won in 12 states across the country. However, it was Tinubu who emerged victorious and will now take the reins as the next President of Nigeria.
