Several governorship candidates representing various political parties in Rivers State, including the Social Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress, Accord and African Democratic Congress, gathered at the State Police headquarters on Friday to stage a protest against what they allege is intimidation and harassment by incumbent Governor Nyesom Wike.
The candidates, including Senator Magnus Abe, Tonye Cole, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, and Tonte Ibraye, accused Governor Wike of using security agencies to harass and arrest their supporters ahead of Saturday’s election.
They called for the immediate release of all those arrested during the political period.
Details of the protest and the ongoing political situation in Rivers State will be provided shortly.
