The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended its ongoing strike action by another eight weeks.

The body had on the 14th of February, 2022 proceeded on a one-month warning strike over the inability of the federal government to meet their demands which includes better welfare and an improved teaching and learning environment.

At the end of an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the University of Abuja which lasted till the early hours of Monday, March 14, 2022, the pressure group decided to extend the strike by eight weeks so as to compel the government to meet their demands.

This is coming after Adamu Adamu, minister of education said the federal government had inaugurated a seven-member committee to renegotiate its 2009 agreement with ASUU.
