Four men have been sentenced to death by hanging by a Lagos State High Court for their involvement in the armed robbery and kidnapping of Mrs. Gloria Emole, the younger sister of Emzor Pharmaceutical Managing Director, Chief Ebuka Okafor.
The convicts were identified as Victor Chukwunonso, Ifeanyi Maduaka, Obinna Nwankwo, and Richard Nwabueze.
The court, presided over by Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo, found the prosecution’s case to be beyond reasonable doubt. The convicts were arraigned in 2013 on a three-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
The offences are contrary to and punishable under sections 297, 285 (2) a, and 291 of the Criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.
Mrs. Emole was kidnapped, blindfolded, and thrown into a car boot before being driven to an unknown area in Ikorodu. She was later released on November 22, 2012, after a ransom of $70,000 was paid by her husband.
