The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended no fewer than 80 Point of Sales (PoS) agents in Akure, the capital of Ondo state. The suspects are accused of engaging in unlawful buying and selling of money to the public at higher interest rates.

According to sources, some of the PoS agents have been purchasing cash from banks and selling it to their customers at exorbitant rates.

However, the EFCC’s crackdown on the illegal activities led to the arrest of the suspects.

During the operation, it was reported that some PoS agents who had prior knowledge of the raid abandoned their stands and fled the scene.

The EFCC officials assured that the suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
