Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has expressed hope that Nigeria will overcome its challenges with banditry and terrorism, and eventually achieve law and order.
Speaking at the 16th Anyiam-Osigwe lecture series titled ‘Rehumanising human experience: A synopsis of Anyiam-Osigwe’s treaties,’ Johnson noted that safety and equality under the law are the foundations for freedom and the first steps towards a thriving country.
He also emphasized the importance of democracy, calling it precious and under attack.
Johnson lamented the waste of human resources in Nigeria and urged politicians to create opportunities for people to reach their full potential.
He called on Nigeria and the UK to deepen their partnership, highlighting their shared similarities.
