The State Working Committee (SWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue has suspended officials in the Igyorov council ward for suspending the party’s former national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
The suspension, which will last for a month, was announced in a statement signed by PDP acting chairman Isaac Mffo and 12 others in Makurdi.
The SWC stated that the suspension was necessary to restore sanity, harmony, law and order in the party and that the committee would administer the affairs of the party in the ward during the period.
The suspended officials were directed to hand over all party documents and belongings in their possession to the SWC of the party immediately.
They were also instructed to cease acting in the offices they held before their suspension.
According to Vangeryina Dooyum, the Igyorov ward secretary who represented its chairman, Kashi Philip, Mr Ayu was suspended from the party owing to his anti-party activities during the recently held general elections across Nigeria.
The SWC stated that the action was taken in the party’s best interest.
