According to reports, the armed confrontation unfolded after the suspected herdsmen infiltrated the community and carried out the abduction of three individuals.

Promptly responding to the distress call, the vigilante group swiftly mobilized, embarking on a pursuit that culminated in the successful apprehension of the assailants and the subsequent liberation of the hostages.

However, the intense exchange of gunfire resulted in grave consequences for the vigilant defenders.

Mr. Oliseneku, one of the valiant vigilantes, suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Despite being swiftly transported to Asaba for urgent medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries, tragically losing his life.

Another vigilant member currently remains in critical condition, having also sustained injuries in the encounter.

While confirming the incident, Mr. Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, stopped short of definitively identifying the assailants as herdsmen.
