Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf wasted no time in making changes to the leadership of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Less than 24 hours after assuming office, Governor Yusuf removed Muhammad Abba Danbatta from his position as Executive Secretary of the board.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, confirmed the news in a press statement on Tuesday morning. Additionally, Alhaji Laminu Rabiu was appointed as the new Executive Secretary, replacing Danbatta.
Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, the Chairman of the Pilgrims board, was also relieved of his duties and replaced by Alhaji Yusuf Lawal. Malama Nana Aisha, the daughter of the late Islamic Cleric Sheikh Jafar Mahmud Adam, was among those affected by the shake-up.
The newly appointed members of the board include Sheikh Abbas Abubakar Daneji, Sheikh Shehi Shehi Maihula, Munir Lawan, Sheikh Isma’il Mangu, Hajia Aishatu Munir Matawalle, and Dr Sani Ashir.
They are expected to assume their responsibilities immediately to ensure a successful 2023 Hajj operation, according to the press statement.
