In a shocking incident, a woman in her 70s has lost her life after being viciously attacked by a dog on Kathleen Avenue in Bedworth, United Kingdom.
The Warwickshire Police reported that the incident occurred on Friday at approximately 3:50 pm.
Sadly, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by Sky News.
According to the latest update, a 52-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have been apprehended on suspicion of possessing a banned dog breed and owning a dangerously aggressive dog.
The report also states that the woman is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital for a non-life threatening injury caused by the same dog. Meanwhile, the man has been released on bail.
Superintendent Sutherland Lane of the Warwickshire Police described this tragic occurrence as an isolated incident.
Expressing concern for the local community, they reassured the public that such dog attacks are highly uncommon.
In response to this distressing event, the police presence in and around the area will be significantly increased to facilitate their ongoing investigations.
This unfortunate incident follows another recent incident reported by Sky News, where a 37-year-old man lost his life after being attacked by a dog deemed “dangerously out of control” in Leigh, Greater Manchester.
Additionally, a separate incident involved a five-month-old baby who was bitten and subsequently hospitalized in Caerphilly.
Furthermore, in late April, a 53-year-old man was charged in connection with a fatal dog attack on 51-year-old Wayne Stephens in Derby.
