Suspected assailants have reportedly bombed the country home of Professor George Obiozor, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Nigeria News House (NNH) reports that the house located in Awo-Omamma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State was destroyed using Improvised Explosives Devices, IED and petrol bombs.

The gunmen reportedly drove into the compound about 06:15 Am, shot indiscriminately for over 15 minutes before they set ablaze the house.

“They used explosives device and petrol gallons to put fire in the building. We entered the building some parts of the building were still burning, the properties were burnt to ashes,” a villager was quoted to have said.

“The roof of the buildings were blown off and scattered around the compound. Those living in the compound are now in fear that the unknown gunmen will likely come to cause more damage.”

This newspaper had earlier reported how gunmen killed an officer and set the Umuguma police headquarters in Imo State on fire.

Imo and other states in the South-East have experienced wanton destruction of lives and properties including the setting ablaze of police stations and other public institutions. The attacks are blamed on gunmen who are said to be unknown.
