Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, has expressed his commitment to improving the education system in the country during the 10th National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS)/ University of Benin (UNIBEN) Matriculation ceremony in Abuja.
He acknowledged the challenges facing tertiary institutions and assured Nigerians that the 10th Assembly would prioritize educational development through the enactment of quality legislation.
Representing Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Sen. Jibrin Barau encouraged the matriculating students to appreciate the privilege of their admission and the unique knowledge they will gain from the programs offered.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, also emphasized the importance of research, training, and education in strengthening democracy.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Lilian Salami, congratulated the students and highlighted the uniqueness of the offered programs.
She emphasized the university’s commitment to imparting high-quality knowledge and urged the students to remain disciplined and focused.
Director-General of NILDS, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, praised the successful collaboration between NILDS and UNIBEN, assuring students of their dedication to the program.
He stressed the importance of attendance and continuous assessment for successful completion and certification.
