Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate Minority Leader, has stated that he will be the governor of all Abians.

Abaribe made the announcement on Monday via a Facebook post in which he was seen holding up his Nomination/Declaration of Interest Form.

“I’m going to be the Governor of All Abians!!” Senator Abaribe made a promise.

The PDP’s latest remarks came only weeks after he formally stated his intention to run for governor of Abia State in 2023.

Senator had expressed interest in running for governor of Abia in December 2021. His purpose was made public, however, when he went to the state secretariat of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to speak with the party’s expanded executive caucus.

Abaribe pledged that he would be the governor that Abians would be proud of at the PDP secretariat in Umuahia, the state capital.

“I’m not going to be simply a governor; I’m going to be the governor of all Abians, regardless of where they come from,” he declared.

The politician, who was deputy governor at the start of the current democratic era, ran for governor in 2003 but lost to Orji Uzor Kalu, the Abia governor whom he had previously served as a deputy.

Abaribe, on the other hand, was elected Senator for the Abia South Senatorial District in 2007 and has held the position ever since.

Abaribe told party stalwarts in Abia State that he had everything it takes to transform the state when asked about his gubernatorial ambition.

According to the senior legislator, he has the necessary capacity, experience, and expertise to govern Abia and, as such, should be considered as the person who would lead the party to victory in 2023.
